About Me


My name is Tony Kim.

I am originally from Seoul, South Korea.

I attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I am currently pursuing a career in journalism.

I have worked as an intern reporter at The Star-Banner in Ocala, Fla. – a New York Times Company Regional Newspaper – where I wrote city news, centerpieces, events news and features.

I have worked as a staff writer for The Daily Tar Heel reporting on UNC news on the University Desk and the Town of Carrboro Board of Aldermen on the City Desk

I am involved with a Christian nonprofit missions organization called Youth With a Mission.

Some of my favorite bands include Sigur Ros, Ray LaMontagne, John Legend, Explosions in the Sky, Anberlin, Charlie Hall, Amos Lee, Lupe Fiasco and Arcade Fire.

My favorite places include Boston, Mass.; the Swedish island of Gotland; Stockholm, Sweden; Liepaja, Latvia; Riga, Latvia; and Guadalajara, Mexico.
